Treasurer’s Report
The Treasurer’s report was given by Jerry Thomas and approved by the membership. A motion to pay the bills was made and seconded.
Communications
We had a brief discussion about the new website and why the old website was not being used. Questions were brought up about the effectivity of the site regarding communications and new member applications; Mike explained that we lost the person that had been updating the site and it’s basically up to Mike and me to do the editing, but the WordPress format used for the new site is not as intuitive as we thought it would be. We will continue to use the new site and try to get some instruction on how to do editing and add new information. The old website is still active and it also points to the new site.
Field Report
Field in is excellent condition. Field closing on Oct 20 was cancelled due to poor weather. Jerry suggested that the batteries should be removed from the tractors and to purchase trickle chargers from Harbor Freight to keep the batteries charged over the winter. We also talked about purchasing a Cyclone rake to collect grass clippings. Although it might be effective for leaves and dry clippings our problem is with fresh or wet clipping, as we’d like to collect as we cut to reduce cutting time. I will check with Tractor Supply to see if they have something we can use next year.
Old Business
Paint for the gate has been purchased and we are currently waiting for better weather to apply it. Driveway sealing is scheduled for this week.
New Business
Mike reminded the membership about the up coming Christmas party. We currently have 37 member reservations but need at least 45 to reserve the Norwin ELKS for the party. Desserts will again be provided by the membership.
Michele Kwasny requested $300 for the ladies gifts. Ideas for gifts were battery chargers, radios, 4 to 5 ARFs, a pair of 3 cell 2200 mAh LiPo batteries, an adhesive assortment, and tools. The membership agreed that we should do a Chinese auction this year for these items. Curt Hughes is also donating an FMS P-47 for the auction. A cap of $300 for ladies and $700 for members has been placed on the gifts.
The Curt Hughes, Dave Popovic, and Jim Kealey were nominated to the Advisory Committee and the membership decided to keep the current Club Officers for 2019.
