Minutes of the 680th Meeting of the Keystone Clippers Model Aircraft Club

AMA Charter 553

Sunday July 24, 2022

The 680th business meeting of the Keystone Clippers was held at the field at noon and called to order by President Mike Shepherd with the Pledge of Allegiance to the Flag. There were 8 regular members and 4 Officers present. A motion was made and seconded to accept the June meeting minutes.

Readings

Bruce Cimino gave his third reading.

Treasurer’s Report

Carl Schuster gave the treasurers report. A motion was made and seconded to accept the report and to pay any outstanding bills.

Communications

We will hold a twilight flying session on August 5 starting at 7pm at the field, flying until dark. VP Jim Kealey has information of lighting accessories for those interested in participating. Rain date is August 12. 

LHMAC 2nd annual float fly at Acme Dam Aug 27 from 10am to 2 pm. Rain date Sept 3rd

Six (6) area clubs have been invited to attend the KCRC 2nd annual Swap and Fun Fly to be held at the field on Sept 24 – rain date is October 1st. Contact VP Jim Kealey for table reservations. Gate opens at 730am

Field Report

The runway and property are in excellent condition. The new GeoTex runway is now being used on regular basis.   

Boy Scouts from Troop 57 did an outstanding job staining the sunshades in the Pit area on July 3. This activity sponsored by Bo and Michelle Kwasny.

Old Business

The enclosure box for the first aid kit and fire extinguisher has been ordered from Amazon – waiting for delivery.

The memorial ceremony for KCRC Club member Jerry Thomas was held at the field on Sunday July 17. We had over 50 guests in attendance which included family, friends, and members from other local clubs. 

The Sewickley Township Emergency Management team held their first training session at the field on July 22. Six KCRC Club members were in attendance. The team decided that they would like to start training twice a month and will submit a schedule for our approval.

New Business

The Club will hold a Twilight Fly-in at 7pm on August 5.

All Club members are requested to wear their KCRC T-shirt for a Club photo after the business meeting on August 26 which will be submitted to the AMA.

A motion was made and seconded to purchase a MIG welding power supply and accessories previously owned by Jerry Thomas for container modifications, repair and routine maintenance.

The nest Club business meeting will be held at the field at noon on August 28 followed by the family picnic. Ray Hurley and Bruce Cimino volunteered to purchase food and do the cooking.
