Field Report
The field is in excellent condition. Seven (7) Club members attended the Fall cleanup on November 14th at 11am through 4pm. All of the overhanging branches were cut and cleared from the driveway and the brush was cut back to the hillside. Bo Kwasny brought a backhoe and cleared the west end of the property line. Trees were also removed. During the excavation we found remnants of the old split rail fence that once served as the property boundary. The plan is to replace the fence in the Spring with used material that will be donated to the Club by Red Rock Fence Co as it becomes available. The north and east boundaries were trimmed and cut back. Time did not allow us to trim the south boundary so that will be deferred to the Spring cleanup.
Old Business
Jim Kealey provided an update on the Remote ID FAA final ruling. There have been significant changes that will relax many of the previous requirements identified in the FAA NPRM.
A summary of the changes will appear on the keystoneclippersrc.com website.
New Business
The March meeting will be held at the Sewickley Recreation Center (Rec Center) on Friday April 2nd. We will be flying ultra-micro planes (no multi-rotors) in the gym on the 2nd floor immediately after the meeting starting at 7pm through 9pm. Flying will be limited to slow-fly planes, similar in size and weight to the Hobbyzone Champ and Parkzone Vapor. Typical flying weights up to 1.5 oz (42g) and 20” wing span would be appropriate for indoor flying at the Rec Center.
The April meeting will also be held at the Rec Center followed by indoor flying in the gym on Friday May 7th.
The remaining meeting dates are:
Sunday June 6th at the field with a rain date of June 13th.
Sunday June 27 meeting and Club picnic
Sunday July 25 meeting and Club picnic
Sunday August 29 meeting and Club picnic
Sunday September 26 meeting and Club picnic
The October and November meeting dates will be announced later this year. Depending on weather conditions we will tentatively meet at the field on Sunday October 24th or at the church on the 25th. November meeting will most likely be at the church on the 29th.
If indoor flying is something that the Club is interested in we will ask the Rec Center if there are any other available dates for evening indoor flying.
Show and Tell
None
The meeting concluded at 7:40 pm.
