Minutes of the 647th Meeting of the Keystone Clippers Model Aircraft Club
AMA Charter 553
Monday June 3, 2019
The 647th meeting of the Keystone Clippers was held at the field at 7:00 pm and called to order by President Mike Shepherd with the Pledge of Allegiance to the Flag. There were 10 regular members and 4 Officers present.
Readings
Prospective member Jim Mitchell gave his second reading, and Jamie Mitchell gave his first reading.
Treasurer’s Report
The Treasurer’s report was given by Jerry Thomas and approved by the membership. A motion to pay the bills was made and seconded.
Communications
The Armstrong RC Flyers will be holding a fun fly and flea mart Saturday June 15 in Kittanning. See armstrongrcflyers.com for more info.
The LHRC Float fly will be held at Acme Dam on June 22.
KCRC annual summer picnic will be held on June 23 with a pylon racing demo.
We were informed that prospective member Nick Garuccio has decided not to join the Club at this time due to other obligations.
Field Report
The Cyclone rake was delivered and assembled at the field by Eric Haberman, Jerry Thomas, Dave Popovic and Ron Steban. We did a test run on the runway in wet, high grass and the equipment performed as expected, but decided a reinforced hitch will be necessary to prevent distortion of the rear portion of the tractor framework. Training classes on setup and operation will be held at the picnic on June 23.
We had to add an inner tube to the left rear tire on Tractor #2, and purchased a 12v emergency jump-pac for battery charging as needed.
We decided to let Labuda perform the annual maintenance on both tractors at the end of the season which will include belt changes and new blades.
It was suggested by the Club to relocate the windsock to the opposite (south) side of the cross-runway. It would probably be better to have the pole located near the end of the sunshade or closer to that end of the south barrier. Final location will be determined later.
The KCRC sign posts need to be replaced and the sign erected – a work party is scheduled for June 17th.
Old Business
Mike reminded the membership that the Club picnic dates are June 23, July 21, August 18, and September 15. This year the Club will only provide hotdogs, hamburgers, condiments, and bottled water. Members are responsible for their own beverages other than water, and please bring a covered dish or dessert as usual.
New Business
Jerry Thomas talked to a contractor who informed him that tar and chips are not recommended for parking lots due to the grinding motion of tires during turning which will quickly deteriorate the surface.
Show and Tell
None
A motion to adjourn concluded the meeting at 7:28 pm.
