Minutes of the 648th Meeting of the Keystone Clippers Model Aircraft Club
AMA Charter 553
Monday June 24, 2019
The 648th meeting of the Keystone Clippers was held at the field at 7:00 pm and called to order by President Mike Shepherd with the Pledge of Allegiance to the Flag. There were 8 regular members and 3 Officers present. There was no quorum, so voting on Club issues did not take place.
Prospective member Jim Mitchell gave his third reading, and Jamie Mitchell gave his second reading.
The Treasurer’s report was given by Jerry Thomas and approved by the membership. A motion to pay the bills was made and seconded.
The field is in good condition. The windsock was relocated to the east end of the south barrier, and the KCRC sign was erected on the new posts at the west end. It’s been reported that it now provides a more accurate indication of the wind direction on the runway. A ramp has been added to the clean container for easier access to the Cyclone rake and picnic supplies. Dave Popovic will remove the fallen tree branch behind the pavilion within the next 2 weeks.
The next KCRC family picnic will be held on June 23 with a pylon racing demo.
Mike reminded the membership that the next Club picnic dates are July 21, August 18, and September 15. This year the Club will only provide hot dogs, hamburgers, condiments, and bottled water. Members are responsible for their own beverages other than water, and please bring a covered dish or dessert as usual.
Mike Shepherd commented that the clean sea-land container is near capacity and that the Club should probably investigate purchasing another one. A committee will be formed at the July meeting to provide estimates for the additional container.
It was suggested by one of the Club members that adding bat boxes may help solve the gnat problem on the field; Andy Levino has also offered to build these. Mike Shepherd will also investigate the possibility of a local Boy Scout troop taking on this project.
Show and Tell
A motion to adjourn concluded the meeting at 7:20 pm.
